Monument Dedication

The South Carolina Signers’ Monument Dedication will be at Secession Hill in Abbeville, SC. Assemble at 11:30 AM at Abbeville Civic Center, 404 N. Main St. Abbeville, SC. Parking will be at the civic center and surrounding area. We will march around the town square then to Secession Hill (approx. ½ mile). We will fire volley during ceremony to honor the 169 men who signed South Carolina’s Ordnance of Secession on December 20, 1860 dissolving the Union. Preferred uniform of the day will be State Militia Uniforms (the one you wore at Fort Moultrie for the Sesquicentennial). Officers will wear Mexican-American War Officer’s Uniform with maroon sash. We will display the SC Sovereignty Flag and Palmetto Battalion Colors. We will need (minimum) 4 man Color Guard. We need less officers and more enlisted. We are portraying the SC soldier of 1860. At that time there was NO Confederate States of America and NO Confederate Battleflag. There were NO rag-tag Confederates. Camping will be available Friday night upon request.
